Getting started

Editorial

Welcome to the new look and the new name. The name "Register Plus" has been replaced by the name "European Patent Register". The new European Patent Register delivers exactly the same information as before: procedural information for patent applications handled by the EPO, online file inspection - click on the "all documents" tab - and legal status information for the national phase. Nothing added, nothing taken away except that it is all packaged in a newly designed user interface. The new design offers improved lay-out, usability, ergonomics, and navigation, using contemporary design criteria, which we've implemented in consultation with the user community.

The majority of our users will access the European Patent Register directly; if you're one of them, then the URL to remember is: https://register.epo.org. Why not add it to your favourites?

The European Patent Register is also accessible from the link on the EPO's new home page or via: http://www.epo.org/register.

Rewrites from the old (temporary) URL http://register.epoline.org are in place but we recommend that you update your bookmarks now.

The map above shows the usage of Register Plus world wide - the darker the colour, the greater the usage. We'll be looking at a similar map for the European Patent Register starting on 1 March.

We would be very interested to hear from you about the new European Patent Register; your opinion is very important to us. Tell us what you think at opus@epo.org (with "GUI" in the subject line). We're looking forward to hearing from you.
